Technical Training Seminars

The overall process of ultrasonic metal-welding is not difficult to

understand and apply. Many times, however, operational and maintenance information gained during initial installation of your metal-weld equipment is

lost through employee turnover or insufficient documentation. Unfortunately,

once a system has been in operation for a lengthy period of time, or becomes obsolete, there may be reluctance on the part of the OEM to support the weld systems. Sonic Tool Company’s experienced professionals can help restore

this technology to your company, and greatly improve your welding process.

Our ultrasonic weld training seminars, which have been conducted in North America and abroad, are operator oriented, hands on, and geared to helping

you recognize and overcome obstacles that may be impacting production

and quality. The ultrasonic metal-welding and problem-solving information

we convey, when applied, results in productivity improvement, better process control and increased quality assurance.

To assure that  production people fully understand the operational

aspects of ultrasonic metal-weld equipment, we believe they should first understand the basics of ultrasonics. We then build on this knowledge to

ensure that both the weld process and weld equipment are thoroughly understood. Typically, our training seminars consist of the outline listed

below, however, this can be modified to meet your specific needs.

General Training Outline

Understanding the Process

• Explains ultrasonic energy and the ultrasonic metal-weld

• Surfaces advantages and practical limitations of the technology

• Reviews the function of all major process components

Optimizing the Process

• Explain the interaction of the weld parameters

• Discuss how to recognize excessive or insufficient parameter settings

• Review parameter optimization, both non-formal and formal Designs of

   Experiments (DOE)

Controlling the Process

• Ways to set control limits around dependent and non-dependent variables

• How to control your incoming raw material, which greatly affects your process

• Preventative maintenance, including outline of a PM schedule for your welders

Protecting the Process

• Demonstration of ways to document and store weld settings.

• Present possible ways to eliminate unauthorized weld schedule changes.

Usually, our on-site training can be completed within two working days. Most companies try to have as many operations people involved with this training as possible, however we always stress that there should be at least one person within your company designated as your “in-house expert”. This is best accomplished by having at least one person involved with every aspect of the training. This “in-house expert” then becomes your first go-to person to answer questions or solve issues that may arise during normal production.

In addition to providing this critical training, while our professionals are at your facility they can help you calibrate and inspect your ultrasonic welders for potential problems.
